5 days ago · Elite specializations can only be equipped in the bottom (third) specialization slot in the hero panel, which has a faint golden frame around it. Elite specialization exclusive weapons and skills cannot be equipped or used unless the respective elite specialization is also equipped. Out of all the classes able to wield a sword, the mesmer does it best IMO. This is the correct answer. Thief also gets good use from a sword, they would probably be second, followed by Guardian if you are doing a dps build. I actually really like the ranger 1H sword. One of the most anticipated features of any Guild Wars 2 expansion is unquestionably the addition of new elite specializations. We got our first peek at the first elite spec for End of Dragons, the Mesmer’s Virtuoso, less than a month ago, with teases and details for Harbinger and Willbender in the intervening weeks.
Personally, I love the simplicity of some of the Core weapons and specs, and think it would do wonders for build diversity for them to be brought up to par with some of the Elites. They don't have to be comparable, but it's pretty easy for Elites to get 50-100% more damage/heal/boon support than similar Core builds on the same class.

Open world builds im currently using: glass cannon build Using a mishmash of equipment leaning into power and trying to stat optimize. Sits at ~80% crit rate: base (dagger) 51% + traited fury 40% = ~91% crit rate with ~212% crit dmg total from traits. power sustain build Using full zerks with speed/SoI.
